MOTOROLA PHONEBOOK TO BLACKBERRY PHONEBOOK (Nextel)
Ferris can perform this process for you for $150 per unit, or you may do it yourself, following the instructions below:
●Have a Ferris technician read your Motorola phone and email you the file in Excel format. Or if you have the appropriate software and cables, you may do this yourself.
●Open the Excel file.
●Insert a column before column A (creating a new column A).
●Move the contents of column D (phone number type, for example: mobile, private, work1) into column A.
●Highlight the first three columns and sort by column A.
●Insert a row at the top of the spreadsheet.
●For each phone number type (in column A) create a label…In cell D1 type the name of the first category. In cell E1 type the name of the second category, and so on, until all categories have been represented.
●Move the phone numbers into appropriate columns under their corresponding labels (all fax numbers into the fax column, all home numbers into the home column, etc.) You may want to freeze the first row to make this easier.
●Delete column C, as it is now empty.
●Delete column A, as it is now unnecessary.
●Sort by column A.
●For each duplicate name, move the phone numbers into one row.
●Delete the rows containing duplicate names (which now have no phone numbers)
●Save as a windows .csv file
●Launch outlook
●Goto file-->import/export
import from another program or file
comma separated values (windows)
select the file
next
destination folder=contacts
select: map custom fields
●Map the fields by dragging from col. A to col. B. Hit ‘Finish’
●Sync the blackberry
●If the fields don’t all carry over from Outlook to the Blackberry, you may have to map them on the blackberry desktop manager.
