Job Purpose: Obtains business and serves current accounts
by understanding telecommunications products and services; monitoring
competitors; prospecting for and contacting potential customers;
closing sales; building and expanding accounts; maintaining sales
databases.
Job Summary: Understands telecommunications products

Duties:
Understands telecommunications products and sales
goals by studying technical literature; reviewing sales objectives,
quotas, and plans; participating in sales meetings.
Monitors telecommunications competition by gathering
marketplace information on competitors current and new
products, pricing structures, services, sales campaigns, discounts,
etc.; tracking industry news and trends.
Prospects for telecommunications customers by establishing
networks and contacts; investigating potential customers moving
into the area; following-up on competitors disgruntled
customers; following-up on phone-in and exposition leads; planning
and organizing call schedule; recommending advertising efforts.
Presents telecommunications products and services
by providing explanations, demonstrations, and literature; asking
for the sale; organizing sales team when required; writing proposals;
responding to requests for proposal (RFPs) and requests for information
(RFIs).
Submits orders by obtaining account detail; coordinating
requirements with installation and service.
Builds and expands accounts by maintaining rapport;
answering requests; introducing new products and services, and
upgrades; studying account needs; coordinating with customer
service.
Keeps management informed by submitting activity
and results reports, such as, daily call reports, weekly work
plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
Recommends changes in telecommunications products,
service, and pricing by evaluating competitive developments;
analyzing, and discovering gaps in, current products, service,
and pricing; analyzing customers needs and requests.
Provides sales planning information and historical
records by maintaining database on area and customer sales,
sales activities, and account profiles.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational
opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining
personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Enhances department and organization reputation by
accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests;
exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
